Patient & visitors

As a first-time visitor or patient, you will need to register with us. This is a registration for life. Please visit the Registration Desk and we’ll guide you through the process. You will then be issued with a Smart Card bearing a Unique Hospital Identification Number (UHID) and an electronic hospital record file will then be generated.

Please see a nurse prior to your doctor for a vitals check, such as temperature, blood pressure, height and weight. We suggest you arrive 15 minutes before the appointed time.

It is so important for patients to have the support of friends and family and we understand this. But patient care is our primary concern, so we have a strict visiting policy in place.

Daily visiting hours:

  • 1-2 pm (two visitors per patient at a time)
  • 6-8 pm (two visitors per patient at a time)
  • Maternity Ward – open visiting for partner of the new mother
  • Paediatric Ward – open visiting for one parent/guardian
  • Neonatal Ward – open visiting for one parent/guardian
  • Exceptions to the above are at the discretion of the nurse in charge at the time.
  • No flowers for patients, please! These are potential sources of infection.
  • No externally sourced food or fluids are permitted.
  • Children may visit for short periods only.

Only one visitor per patient is permitted in the critical care unit.

Please ensure you provide us with the correct information upon arrival at the Admissions Desk, as this may help in the event of insurance claims. Different categories of rooms/beds are available in the hospital and these are allotted depending on your choice and availability.

Please remember to bring your registration card and doctor’s advice slip when you report for admission.

You’ll receive two visitors’ passes to give to well wishers for visiting hours. In the case of ICU admission, however, only one visitor’s pass will be issued.

Advance payment is required on admission.

As an insurance patient, you’ll need to produce all details of your insurance policy at the Pre-admission Desk. The desk staff will facilitate the pre-guarantee of payment from the respective insurance company prior to admission.

Patients will be informed of approval/refusal prior to admission.

Please ask your Doctor or Billing Department to give an estimate based on the proposed treatment plan and the expected duration of the stay.

Cash in Mauritian Rupees or foreign currency accepted – US Dollars, Pounds, Euros

Credit card – only MasterCard and Visa accepted

Bank transfer – to be done at least 5 working days before admission

Please ask your Doctor or Billing Department to give an estimate based on the proposed treatment plan and the expected duration of the stay.

We like to plan your discharge from hospital and so will ensure that a time is arranged well in advance. Please take into account that admission can take up to three (3) hours, with one (1) hour on the discharge procedure while finalising your bill. For billing purposes, a stay of up to six (6) hours before and up to checkout time is considered a half day and more than six (6) hours is considered a full day.
