On arrival in Mauritius, you will be met and greeted by our representatives, who will transfer you to the hospital or hotel, depending on your admission plan. At the hospital, you will meet up with a member of the International Services team who will help you with the registration process. Please ensure you bring the following documents for your appointment at the hospital:

  • All medical reports and medication details
  • CD copies of any scans like MRI/CT/ECHO
  • Any referral notes from your doctor

Upon admission, you will meet our consultant who will guide you through a comprehensive health assessment (including, where required, MRI scans, X-rays, blood tests, among other services) before confirming a date for your procedure/surgery. The consultant will explain everything to you in detail about your procedure/surgery and will give you ample opportunity to ask questions.

  3. Our representative will greet you on arrival and transfer you to the hotel or hospital, depending on your admission plan.
  4. Your doctor will meet with you to assess your health and book your procedure/surgery.
  5. After your procedure or surgery, your doctor will give you detailed instructions to assist you with your recovery.
  6. On discharge, you will be transferred to your hotel for continued recuperation.

After surgery, rest is important. Your surgeon will give you detailed instructions that will assist you with your recovery. The surgeon will visit you daily to check on your general condition and ensure that you are healing well.

Insurance reimbursement depends on the patient’s individual plan. In some cases, we require that patients pay in full and then submit claims directly to the insurance company for reimbursement. A list of approved insurance companies is provided for international patients. You should obtain guarantee of payment from your insurance company and present it to us on the day of admission. Please note that payment in full is required at the time of service for outpatients and at the time of departure for inpatients. Payment can be made by cash, cheque (US dollar or Euro), or credit card. A final detailed statement of bill is sent to patients at the time of discharge.

Before you are discharged from the hospital, the doctor and his team will ensure you are fit and ready to travel. They will also provide you with comprehensive notes including scans and reports to pass on to your GP/hospital consultant back home for efficient and seamless follow-ups. You will be transferred to the hotel or airport in time for your flight.

Once your doctor releases you from the hospital, our representative will escort you back to your hotel for some quality recuperation and relaxation. Everything will be handled for you as per your booking to ensure an easy and relaxing recovery.

Once home again, you are welcome to follow up with our doctors. Communications can continue in this way through emails, faxes or phone calls.

Money may be wired to Wellkin Hospital’s bank account. Bank details can be obtained from the international help desk.
